The exhibition "Either Independence or Death! On the Way to the Republic", organized in cooperation with Koç University Vehbi Koç Ankara Studies Application and Research Center (VEKAM), Collectors Association and Çankaya Municipality, was opened on October 3 at Çankaya Municipality Doğan Taşdelen Contemporary Arts Center.

The exhibition "Either Independence or Death! On the Way to the Republic", specially prepared for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic, examines the period from the end of World War I to the proclamation of the Republic, offering visitors the opportunity to trace the traces of this important period. The exhibition was prepared in a chronological order using historical research, literary texts, memoirs, original documents and photographs, and is the largest exhibition to date in terms of the area and number of works exhibited.

With the sacrifice of all the people, including the Kuvayı Milliye gangs that resisted the occupation, led by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades, the Turkish youth who rushed to the front, the women, men and children from 7 to 70 who fought at the front and behind the front, and the heroism of the Mehmetçik, Turkish It sheds light on the people's Struggle for National Independence and Ankara's role in this process.
In the exhibition, more than 1200 rare documents, photographic archives and collections of the Collectors Association, most of which belong to Nurhan and Korkut Erkan, Ankara Painting and Sculpture Museum, Pera Museum, Istanbul Research Institute, Yapı Kredi Museum, Haluk Perk Research Center, Hisart. In Turkey, there are collections from institutions and personal collections such as the Live History Museum, METU Society and Science Application and Research Center, Polatlı Historical Areas Promotion Center (POTA), War of Independence Museum (1st Grand National Assembly of Turkey Building), Albert Khan Museum (France) and the American Library of Congress. Rare works that have never been exhibited before can also be seen.

The exhibition "Either Independence or Death! On the Way to the Republic" can be visited in all galleries of Çankaya Municipality Doğan Taşdelen Contemporary Arts Center between 3-30 October 2023.
